cutest 'tell our story' idea. signs all along the pathway up to the ceremony site where the last sign read, "to be continued"...I don't think i can insist loud enough for couples to really allow their STORY to play a big part in the planning and decorating and celebration of their wedding day. These personal touches made it SO special!Sam's dad made this entire barn door/wall as an amazing texture and backrop for her wedding! oh happiness... navy blue and white...so classy :) both Jesse & Sam took time at their ceremony doing things that were really special for them... you can't tell it in pictures, but it was one of the COLDEST days of the year. Sam was numb and the girls were shivering so bad. They fortunately stuck hand warmers in their dress pockets! Genius! prayers from the dads Jesse's dad popped up right as Pastor Jeff said "you may now kiss--" and literally inches away from their face started snapping pictures. Samantha burst out laughing! after the ceremony, we dashed across the street for some quick pictures at the place Jesse first asked to hold Sam's hand....on this exact bench... and then it was party time! Sam's an english major from www.calbaptist.edu and Jesse's pursuing his masters in Divinity at Duke in North Carolina. Between the two of them, they LOVE books and wanted to incorporate all sorts of personal facets from poets to prophets to pillars of the faith...mini mason jars... more hand made/hand painted boxes with their very own brand.. fun times!favorite reception game... :) and they were off!Jesse & Sam, you guys rock! We love you! Thank you for trusting your special day to us! Thank you for being SO patient for these! SO SO excited to see what the next few years hold for you! And...i definitely can't wait to get some of these memories printed and on your wall and in your hands for you to smile a thousand more smiles over! love thee much! | lkm

I met this young lady when she was still in highschool. She loved people. She loved life. She loved Jesus with all her heart, mind and soul. It's been a long, arduous road since then to the day I watched her stand before Jesse and vow her life and heart to share with him. The celebration was epic. The joy in the air was contagious. It was a day to give back to this girl who was characterized by giving so much of herself. And it was. absolutely.delightful. My heart continus to sing as i share these highlights. love her little details. pearls. sparkles. lace toms.... we got all the girls gathered up to go shoot in the hills of Norco....and yes i drooled THOROUGHLY over all that lush, green grass! (yes, i live in desert) i gave her a sneak peak of these shots and she squeeled, "oh my gosh! it really is just like pride and prejudice!! those rolling hills! Gah!" then we headed over to the Pawley's house...where she did SO much life; her 2nd home. :)best friend and MOH time together :)hashtag: resting, refreshing, sunbeam recharge, etc.meanwhile...the guys were  getting their duds on..props to second shooter Emily for helping snag their dapper-ness... :) and then they got ready for their first look :) best first look expression ever!he was so taken...so tenderand then it was PARTAY time with the wedding party! and this was only the beginning! the awesome prelude! check back for PART TWO!

Jasmine sandwich :) and then Jasmine BEGGEd to go hit up their BOMB candy 'sweets' table and mom and dad got some sweetheart time to themselves...the sun sets so stinkin' fast in the winter but when you catch it at that peak golden point, all things glow! I love these two... daddy daughter dances make me cry oh laughter, how you make all things sparkle :)

Since I met Amir & Maribel at an expo last May we've had coffee dates, email convos, phone chats, and shot a 3 part engagement session (Go HERE to see highlights from their engagement session!). Come wedding time they trusted me and we laughed a bunch! They're wedding party was  great--friends supporting each other and celebrating! We had a few inside jokes to tease about, they're friends and family were very gracious, and their wedding....well, here are the highlights! Jeff & Laura have a love story straight out of a chick flick. No joke. She's a German flight attendent who flies all over the world and Jeff is in the military, they met in the air, on a plane, thousands of feet above the earth. See what I mean? Doesn't it just make you wanna break out in song?! Or send their story to Hollywood or something?! Laura first contacted me on facebook as she prepared to come visit Jeff from Germany for a few weeks in February. By the hair of our chinny chin chin we found a date that worked, planned a shoot and hooked her up with soft, sweet, natural styling by my bomb stylist Dana Buchanan. | My time with Jeff & Laura was a royal picnic. I'd hang out with them just for fun any day. I underestimate how goofy and easy going Jeff would be--oh! and their heart-warming affection for each other is  pure gold. Andrew + Sam | Tucson Desert Rain-Soaked Maternity Session

{Tucson Maternity Session | Desert Rain | February 2013} 3 years ago my little family of 4 (at that time) lived together with Andrew & Sam. It was one of the best years ever. Doing life together; intentionally living 'in community' as we called it, was a glorious challenge that stretched us and drew us close and taught us much. We have braved some stormy weather together and apart these past 3 years, and just a couple weeks ago I had the absolute treat to shoot Andrew & Sam's maternity session. I'm pretty sure it was the coldest day of the year. Sam sure thought so. She had prepared for sunny skies and the notorious Tucson heat--of which, i reminded her, is actually seasonal and that we do, in fact, have SEASONS in the desert. weird, i know. but now you know. | So this is them. The Horvath family. They are and always will be so very dear to our hearts. This precious  little anticipated bundle of humanity will be joining us in just 2 months. Holy Moly. This is life everyone. There is life in there! (A little creepy. A lotta awesome.) Oh my stars. Butterflies are swarming in my tummy. The excitement for these two little love birds is incalculable. I've known Abby since she was a lil' tike. No joke. One of my oldest  family friends.  To see her grown and loved by a good, good man who is humble, tender, loyal, passionate and sincere--i just want to cry and thank Jesus for being so so very good. Check out that rain. Seriously, one of my coldest/rainiest shoots ever. So worth the miseery!!  okay, so it was REALLY really cold. So we were trying to see if we could capture our breath...and they were laughing/shivering/snorting all sorts of wonderfulness.the black and white below is abby's favorite :) (and shhh, don't tell her, but i printed it on canvas and am surprising her for her wedding :D)did i mention we got wet? coffee shop subtleties we laughed SO much! we were struttin' around downtown pasadena and saw this hole-in-the-wall bookstore. I mean, it SMELLED like old books. It was fantastic...and we got uber cozy amongst its shelves. mmmmhm. these images (below) are some of my favorite. Jeff & Abby ADORE each other and are just so comfortable together... i love the moment below in black and white. the story and journey they've been on these past few years make the tenderness and trust a REALLY big deal oh how he loves her

So...i'm breaking highlights from this amazing San Diego wedding into multiple parts. There is just...too much awesomeness. Yellow and deep teal were Sam's colors with a splash of couture inspiration. With Guess heels and Vera Wang dress, Ms. Fashionista herself was glowing. My team and I arrived at the 'girls pad' late morning with time to spare so we could just hang out and bond a bit while they gussied up...

oh that dress.... Vera Wang did not dissapoint! Sam and her mom had a really special bond... Once we donned the dress, touched up the make-up we had planned to spend a good amount as 'just us girls.' We hit up mom's orchards in the backyard  first... sam was more than willing to do pretty much anything...until winds picked up and we were frozen to the bone. The rest of the bridal party went to go warm up in the car while MOH Catie and Sam enjoyed a few last minute laughs and poses. then meandered over to some awesome nearby train tracks and let the 'sass' spew. Back at the Green Gables Estate, we avoided San Diego's once-in-a-lifetime hurricane remnants  and gushed over the incredible Bridal Prep room decorated with posh little quaint details.

oh man....these little ones.... :)
