Wyatt + Hilary | Spring Blush & Creme Wedding | Part 2

I had heard from wedding coordinator, Meagan Crain of MC Events AZ, that the details and setting were gonna make our heart swoon a little bit. This is one of those weddings where I showed up to green rolling courtyard of Tucson's hidden wedding venue, La Mariposa, and had a sharp inhale. My eyes got wide. There were sparkly tableclothes set with wooden place settings and classy rustic carved numbers. Their wedding cake was paired with an anniversary cake for their grandparents--celebrating THEIR anniversary on the same day. 

Wyatt + Hilary were a gracious bride and groom. They were eager to get married and deferred so many timeline and organizational pieces so that we could really cover a plethora of moments and get such a wide, diverse story. Their first look moment made me cry. (oh the way they diffused and were so excited about eachother!) Their wedding party was jovial and attentive. Their family was so complimentary. Their friends were crazy. The food was delicious. The toasts were meaningful. And their dance floor rocked. -- Especially when you see what the bride tossed instead of a bouquet as a prank. So. Much. Fun.

A little background...Last May I was in Wisconsin and I never got to share the images from that weekend.

I went to school with Joey in the Philippines 14 years ago. It was incredible to hear pieces of the journey into manhood that has ripened his strong soul since i last saw him. He and his sweetheart Christiana were getting married the day after they graduated college. (Efficient right?! :) Due to crazy schedules we decided to actually shoot their engagement session the day AFTER their wedding. One amazing 3 days of life changing experiences and I got to be a part of it. Watch it unfold before me. Capture the pieces that caught my attention. 

Joey & Christiana wanted to shoot their engagement session in a park where they often went running. The meandering paths amid abandoned railways and the nostalgic buzz of cicadas were still and welcoming. The sheer amount of green and fortitude found in the trees was effortless; everywhere. 

We ended our time out on a bike route that Joey & Christiana often frequented to detox from their studies. Their keen sense of adventure is ripe with expectation and I'm confident that the few fist pumps and longing looks captured below tell a story that has only just begun. | LKM

cutest 'tell our story' idea. signs all along the pathway up to the ceremony site where the last sign read, "to be continued"...I don't think i can insist loud enough for couples to really allow their STORY to play a big part in the planning and decorating and celebration of their wedding day. These personal touches made it SO special!Sam's dad made this entire barn door/wall as an amazing texture and backrop for her wedding! oh happiness... navy blue and white...so classy :) both Jesse & Sam took time at their ceremony doing things that were really special for them... you can't tell it in pictures, but it was one of the COLDEST days of the year. Sam was numb and the girls were shivering so bad. They fortunately stuck hand warmers in their dress pockets! Genius! prayers from the dads Jesse's dad popped up right as Pastor Jeff said "you may now kiss--" and literally inches away from their face started snapping pictures. Samantha burst out laughing! after the ceremony, we dashed across the street for some quick pictures at the place Jesse first asked to hold Sam's hand....on this exact bench... and then it was party time! Sam's an english major from www.calbaptist.edu and Jesse's pursuing his masters in Divinity at Duke in North Carolina. Between the two of them, they LOVE books and wanted to incorporate all sorts of personal facets from poets to prophets to pillars of the faith...mini mason jars... more hand made/hand painted boxes with their very own brand.. fun times!favorite reception game... :) and they were off!Jesse & Sam, you guys rock! We love you! Thank you for trusting your special day to us! Thank you for being SO patient for these! SO SO excited to see what the next few years hold for you! And...i definitely can't wait to get some of these memories printed and on your wall and in your hands for you to smile a thousand more smiles over! love thee much! | lkm

Jasmine sandwich :) and then Jasmine BEGGEd to go hit up their BOMB candy 'sweets' table and mom and dad got some sweetheart time to themselves...the sun sets so stinkin' fast in the winter but when you catch it at that peak golden point, all things glow! I love these two... daddy daughter dances make me cry oh laughter, how you make all things sparkle :)

Amir & Maribel, you guys threw such a classy wedding! It was beautiful with fantastic details and whole bunch o' love and energy! I look forward to many more years of memories, parties, children and moments captured with you guys! Blessings! Joy, LKM

Texture Tuesday | Cluster of star-shaped petal-like desert leaves

 {Desert Bush | Downtown Tucson Landscaping | November 2011} When I took a closer look at the petal-like leaves on this bush, i smiled. They look like stars. :) .... yes, yes I am working really hard to find beauty in the desert. And it's working. :)
