{Christman Family | Mill Valley, Town of Tiburon,  Bay Area Family Portrait Photographer} This precious little family was a joy to hang out with. I have NEVER worked so hard in my LIFE to get two little girls to 'stay with me' and 'stay happy'. Props to my two assistants who were on full-blown joy overload for the 2 hours we spent together! We frolicked. We chased pigeons. We raced. We changed activities about 5 million times to keep everybody on their toes. The mist was thick. The town was quiet. And this family let me watch them be a family for a couple hours. It was a pretty epic afternoon. we sipped tea in front of boutiques. if ever there were a middle name for this town, it would most certainly be "la ti da".our stage #2 of Operation: 'Keep Little Ones Stoked' (about pictures) was staged back at Golden Gate Theological Seminary where this family has been for several years. I hope these pictures are full of nostalgia. These girls have swung on these swings since they could sit up straight. It's often the little things; the little places with the biggest memories ya know? i just love this black and white below...and then finally, i had to mention i got adam to give me a bona fide frolick. best. moment. ever.though the image below might be my most top favoriteand then I politely and ever so gently asked this mildly reserved couple to just give me a few moments...some sweet, married tenderness. and indeed...mommy and daddy still are crazy about each other :)oh! and one last final little note from this beautiful momma...they are most definitely expecting #3....and this is their announcement picture. i'll translate. 1 +1+1=5. :) Dear friends, thank you for trusting me with these memories! Mill Valley, in all its mystery and lovely dew, was a wonderful place to shoot in for the first time! Thank you for introducing me to the town of Tiburon; "San Francisco's Best Kept Secret" and, more importantly, your little girls. I hope these are treasures for years to come :) | LKM

Raising Daughters | personal

{THROW BACK THURSDAY GUYS :D | December 2011} This blog has been saved in my drafts and was never posted. Who woulda guessed that 2.5 years later...the bonding between she and I would jump into a whole new chapter. Since Judah has started kindergarden, I get undivided (sorta. Jericho is still present. but he's just a stinkin' happy baby that he's not much trouble most of the time :D. knock on wood...) attentioned with my little girl. She loves doing nails, going shopping, trying on every dress in her closet at least once a day, brushing my hair, watching ballerinas, drawing/painting...she's her own little person. One that I have done very little to shape in these little details. (i mean, if i had had my way, she'd already have kleets on and be throwin' down some rugby moves). Nevertheless, the weight of speaking truth, grace, beauty on the inside, joy in other people, guarding her heart...is HUGE. Overwhelming. And i relish the moments that I can have conversations. Isolated and focused. Slow down to hear her thoughts...and actually care.

My dear friends. Blog followers. Creepy stalkers whom i don't even know. I've been dormant for a while. Or so you might think from my blog activity these past couple months. (chuckle)...don't be deceived. This July I have blocked off the entire month to simply...be alive; recuperate from my intense month of June shooting in California. I actually get a birthday. Tomorrow I get to kiss my husband's face off--6 years worth. Woah. (Love that man.:) I am reorienting my family into a routine. My kids are loving me for it. Figuring out what normal is harder that it seems. Kindergarden starts in 2 weeks and i don't even WANT to go there right now. (double woah) and I have enough editing to last me till the fall (which it won't. because that' be rude and excruciating for my clients...*facepalm*...i just won't sleep. ever. that's all) I just wanted to say hi. hello. I blog to prove that i'm actually doing work. I blog also to tell the stories behind my pictures which are apparently a pretty cool thing and makes a whole mess of people want to continue looking at pretty pictures of strangers. Like it's an experience or something. I also blog so google analytics like me cuz, ya know, I kinda run a business. I also blog to give a peak into my life too. Sometimes even the gnitty gritty. Haven't done much of that recently. But i'm looking forward to more of that in the near future...though, currently it's trumped by twiterpated newlyweds and sparkly wedding days, handsome seniors,  and beautiful families. While I need to get back to editing, here are three of my most favorite faces in the whole world. they are my heart. my world. and possibly (very very likely) the cause for my plummeting blogging track record.  Alas, everybody and THEIR mommy remind me it's worth it. Since I met Amir & Maribel at an expo last May we've had coffee dates, email convos, phone chats, and shot a 3 part engagement session (Go HERE to see highlights from their engagement session!). Come wedding time they trusted me and we laughed a bunch! They're wedding party was  great--friends supporting each other and celebrating! We had a few inside jokes to tease about, they're friends and family were very gracious, and their wedding....well, here are the highlights! Andrew + Sam | Tucson Desert Rain-Soaked Maternity Session

{Tucson Maternity Session | Desert Rain | February 2013} 3 years ago my little family of 4 (at that time) lived together with Andrew & Sam. It was one of the best years ever. Doing life together; intentionally living 'in community' as we called it, was a glorious challenge that stretched us and drew us close and taught us much. We have braved some stormy weather together and apart these past 3 years, and just a couple weeks ago I had the absolute treat to shoot Andrew & Sam's maternity session. I'm pretty sure it was the coldest day of the year. Sam sure thought so. She had prepared for sunny skies and the notorious Tucson heat--of which, i reminded her, is actually seasonal and that we do, in fact, have SEASONS in the desert. weird, i know. but now you know. | So this is them. The Horvath family. They are and always will be so very dear to our hearts. This precious  little anticipated bundle of humanity will be joining us in just 2 months. Holy Moly. This is life everyone. There is life in there! (A little creepy. A lotta awesome.) Sophia | tucson lifestyle newborn moments

{Sophia | Lifestyle Newborn Moments | Tucson, AZ | January 2013} I've titled this blog very intentionally: 'lifestyle newborn moments' :) Seriously. Newborn photography is NOT my forte. In fact, I have a grip of newborn photographers I am UBER eager to refer any expecting mom to (email me). Newborn photography is an incredibly fine art in and of itself. You know--the time, patience and intense fine skill and prep to nail those BOMB pinterest images that make mommies swoon all over the planet? Babies posing in perfect sleepy poses with heads propped in their hands or cuddled up in ball of perfection. Yup. Never gotten there. NEVER.

I called up my friend, Missy, yesterday  to  see if i could swing by and just capture a few moments of 'little-ness.' It wasn't fancy. I have no props. I haven't any fancy backdrops or monkey hats or cool fluffy pilllows perfect for these things. I just wanted to snatch a few moments in this stage of Sophia's first week where newness abounds. So with GPS in hand and a  bit o' dinner love in tow, I paid a visit. I hugged Drew & Missy, conversed a little with new-big-sister Emma, gushed over Sophia and snatch a few real moments with the family. (beat)  This whole welcoming-new-life into the world is intense. Motherhood is intense. The tiny-ness and abandonment of self is insane...crazy, crazy beautiful. (moment to weep a little inside my heart with how big of a deal these thoughts are) (anyways) Love you Montagues! Welcome Sophia!  | lkm

{ Hodge Family | Tucson Sonoran Desert Gates Pass | Portraits | December 2012} Nikki charmed my socks off with her first facebook inquiry and when we met up at Gates Pass earlier this month, my sixth sense did not disappoint. This little family was a treat! I can't wait to meet and capture more memories with them when baby #2 arrives in February!  | lkm Dad was G R E A T with dex. Can you believe it? MOM was the one who specifically asked for a 'shot of dad throwing dex really really high in the air.' Most moms would have thrown up if you had only seen the ravine path we were on and the cactus Dex was flying over! some belly lovin i love this triptic... Neal + Connie | Modern Chic Downtown Tucson Engagement Session

 {Neal + Connie | Downtown Tucson Engagement Session | Tucson Wedding Photography} We made it to downtown promptly during Friday's rush hour and had to race a quickly setting sun amidst the war (cough) i mean, construction zone that is down there. Streets were closed, parking spots were packed (because apparently Tour De Tucson is a big deal), and I was getting a lil' nervous about finding a stellar backdrop and making it all 'work'...and then i caught myself--your focus is FIRST people, not places. I watched Neal & Connie respond and react, enjoy each other and laugh freely. We even made a grungy parking lot look like a light-pool filled with bougainvillea! Ta Da! (pause) (debating in my head wether to go that extra measure of disclosure....here goes...)

To be honest, I have never felt so disheveled before a photo session. I'm back from maternity leave and figuring life out -- balancing three little ones  and (thankfully)enjoying a good photography work load while figuring out a system to make both hats fit. Being able to release these highlights is sheer relief. We did it!! Come rain or shine, babies or sleepless nights, there is grace and pictures are glowing across the screen right now! New lovebirds are being captured and put on display and I'm so excited to share these two with you! | lkm
