Wedding Location + Venue: Mom’s Backyard in Stowe, Vermont
Allison + Shayne got married in her mom’s backyard in Stowe, Vermont. When they first reached out to LKM they described the vibe and vision of their day:
We want our wedding to be super laid back, casual, earthy, backyard wedding, magical, a little boho but not to an extreme, mellow until it turns into an awesome dance party! It won't be a BBQ per se, although Black Diamond BBQ is catering, but kind of that vibe. Lots of green, NOT FANCY! AND REALLY FUN! The MOST important thing to us when it comes to wedding photography is that you get REAL MOMENTS. Not too staged. I want you to have a JOURNALISM FOCUS. I really just don't want to focus on taking photos the whole time. Candids are great. Thinking about doing a first look so we don't make guests wait while we take photos. I've been in a wedding before that was so much about the photos and by the time the wedding day rolled around, I was so sick of it. Photos were beautiful but there should be depth behind the photos…..also, i just want to capture the beauty of my mom's backyard, Vermont, the view and mountains, the gardens... Getting married there has always been my dream.
We were thrilled to hear of Shaye & Allison’s posture that bent towards the authentic. In a time of COVID19 so many weddings are being altered and moved and reassessed or resituated. While S + A’s wedding was a year ago from today, we know that these family gatherings and backyard events might be the new normal for many 2020 - 2021 weddings. There is a hidden blessing in interruptions sometimes. Like rain on a wedding day or unexpected dramas, sometimes the most unpredictable challenges bring out something that is raw and real.

After a beautiful mornign getting ready and taking classy pictures with the wedding party, the ceremony was staged overlooking the Green Mountains from the beautiful backyard of MOB’s estate.
Casual family pictures and a collection fine art portraits were snatched with the bride and groom before making their smashing entrance onto the dance floor. The laughter during speeches was rich, the food was delicious and the night was young. As it began to rain, guests flexed as the party went inside to the barn and everybody let down their hair and partied the evening away.
Shayne & Allison, thank you for throwing such a delightful event, flexing with the rain, embracing your family and being a joy to work with! Happy Wedding Anniversary!
